Iowa State Fair announces final grandstand act for 2022 – KCCI Des Moines

A sharp dressed band with fuzzy guitars will rock the Iowa State Fair Grandstand in August. ZZ Top was announced Wednesday as the final grandstand act. The bearded blues rock band will perform Aug. 16 at 8 p.m. with special guest Ann Wilson from Heart.ZZ Top’s career spans more than 50 years. The band has racked up 15 studio albums, 50 million albums worldwide, three MTV Video Awards, multiple TV appearances and a Super Bowl performance.ZZ Top formed in 1969. The band scored its first Top 10 hit in 1973 with the classic, “La Grange.”The 1970s saw the band produce more successful singles in “Tush,” “I Thank You” and “Cheap Sunglasses.”Billboard charting success continued in the early 1980s with hits like “Tube Snake Boogie” and “Pearl Necklace.”In the early 1990s, the group was inducted into Hollywood’s Rock Walk. A decade later, they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
